Week of November 6, 2006

7th Grade English Exchange

a newsletter communication to support student performance

Parent Notes

Students will receive assignment reports Monday, November 6, 2006.
This will be the last assignment review for the marking period.

Throughout each marking period English students are responsible for independently reading fiction/non-fiction books. Students select which books they want to read from a list. Once they have finished their book, they are required to take a computerized test on the book. The test checks their reading comprehension.  The chart to the right will help determine where each student should be at this point in the marking period depending upon the reading grade they hope to achieve. This reading score is 20% of the overall grade for the class.
Twenty to thirty minutes of at-home reading is recommended on a daily basis, including weekends.  Please do no hesitate to read with your child if this is an area where they are struggling.

First Marking Period

As the end of the marking period draws near, many students need to dedicate more time to reading and English studies. All students receive an English grade report at the beginning of each week. The purpose of this sheet is to assist students in staying current with their assignments or work that needs to be re-done. Please note that students should have this sheet in class with them throughout the week so they can work on any missing assignments, as time permits.
